  • Arsenal is still in the race to retain Folarin Balogun
  • A report says the teenage sensation hasn't signed anything yet with Red Bull Leipzig
  • Balogun has received 15 bids to leave Arsenal this coming summer.

Arsenal has finally caught a break in the ongoing January transfer window as the club's hope of extending Folarin Balogun's tenure at the Emirates Stadium is not completely dead in the water.

This development was first reported by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The clarification about Balogun’s situation came after multiple reports emerged suggesting that Balogun, who is in the final six months of his Arsenal deal, had already signified to join Bundesliga's Red Bull Leipzig.

Romano divulged that the London-bred striker received no less than "15 bids" to leave both Arsenal and the English Premier League on a free transfer this coming summer.

Though Red Bull Leipzig seems to be the next landing spot for Balogun, the German side has yet to put a lucrative offer on the table according to the Italian source.

“Folarin Balogun has received more than 15 bids as a free agent for next summer. His contract situation with Arsenal is stalling, still complicated because he wants to play,” Romano wrote on his official Twitter account.

“RB Leipzig [has not] made an official bid to sign Balogun as of today,” the pundit added.

Desperate to avoid losing yet another talented booter on a free transfer, Arsenal's management sat down with Balogun to convince the striker to remain with the team for the foreseeable future.

Most recently, head coach Mikel Arteta revealed that the Gunners offered Balogun a new long-term contract and even bared that the 19-year-old prodigy wanted to stay with his boyhood club.

However, negotiations had turned sour, with the prolific striker demanding for his playing time on Arsenal's main roster to be stipulated in the new contract.

Arsenal is currently loaded with strikers in the lineup, with club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being the first choice while Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah being the other two options.

Balogun has attracted interest from clubs across Europe following his exploits with Arsenal’s Under-23 squad and awe-inspiring performance with the first team this season.
