KEY POINTS

  • Atletico Madrid making a fresh run at Alexandre Lacazette
  • Los Indios to give Arsenal three players of their choice
  • Thomas Partey was not mentioned as one of the players being offered

Alexandre Lacazette of Arsenal FC has been playing behind the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, someone who is expected to get a fresh lucrative lease soon. Though there are clubs interested in the 29-year-old player, there remains no clarity on what the Gunners have planned on Lacazette.

The only thing known now is that Lacazette is not too happy about being on the bench. Regardless, Mikel Arteta has no immediate plans of letting him go unless there is a need. The Gunners are targeting players and the need to unload some of the current ones may be needed. No names have been mentioned but a deal could be struck if the deal is right.

One club that could have something interesting to offer is Atletico Madrid. Los Indios showed interest in Lacazette three years ago and it appears they have plans of reviving that pursuit.

According to Marca, Atletico has kept tabs with the situation of Lacazette and is believed to be ready to offer an interesting deal. Andrea Berta will allegedly try to tempt Arsenal by offering them a choice of three players for Lacazette.

One name likely to be mentioned is Thomas Partey. Arsenal has made several offers for the Ghana player but was thumbed down. As mentioned in a previous post, Los Indios want a cash deal for the 27-year-old player. It was not mentioned if Partey would be part of the players Atletico plans to offer.

Instead, different names are being suggested. This includes Thomas Lemar, Angel Correa or Vitollo. Though Arteta is on the prowl for midfielders, the suggested names may not be that appealing for Arsenal.

On the part of Lacazette at Emirates Stadium. Arteta previously said he finds no logic letting Lacazette go. But then again, the landscape has changed for the Gunners. Also, the fact that Aubameyang is the top dog (and will remain that way) hints that Lacazette is likely to still come off the bench moving forward.

The only logical deal seen here is a Partey for Lacazette scenario. But based on the past exchanges, both teams are not too keen about it. However, that can be subject to change if the right package suits the Gunners and Los Indios.
