KEY POINTS

  • Thomas Lemar has opted to explore more options and rejected Porto's offer
  • Everton and Wolves are keeping tabs on Lemar's situation
  • Wolves may not be an ideal situation for Lemar

Thomas Lemar could be of better use to other clubs after falling down the ranks of Atletico Madrid. FC Porto appeared to be in the lead for the services of the 24-year-old player, but Lemar has rejected the pitch.

While Lemar has thumbed down the offer of Porto, the 24-year-old could jump to the Premier League instead, AS reported. Manchester United and Arsenal FC were initially interested in taking in the French midfielder, but it appears both have since headed in a different direction.

However, there are still other teams keeping tabs on Lemar. Everton and Wolverhampton are monitoring Lemar’s situation, and something could materialize.

However, that also depends on how things go over at Everton and Wolverhampton. The Black Watch has several targets on its list, some of whom they are close to signing.

Among the names linked to Everton are Abdoulaye Doucoure, James Rodriguez and Allan. Lemar could be the next player in line and make the switch to Goodison Park, joining Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

For the Wolves, the opportunities for him to shine are also appealing. Also, it would be best to note that Jorge Mendes has a good relationship with Los Indios, which could boost their chances of landing the 24-year-old.

Lemar joined Atletico in 2018 following an estimated $82 million deal with Monaco. He has made 72 appearances with Los Indios but has slipped down the pecking order.

There was a point when Lemar was considered one of the most exciting midfielders in Europe. However, his spell in Spain did not turn out too great and such raises several questions.

Critics feel that a move for Lemar could be a gamble for the Wolves, something that may or may not pan out.

But in the end, the fate of Lemar will depend on what Atletico has planned. There is no mention yet on the asking fee they would want for the French football player, according to TBR football.

Los Indios could consider loaning him out as well unless there is a good offer on the table. The Wolves do look formidable in the middle so adding Lemar may not be a priority for Nuno Espirito Santo.
