Budget-friendly airline Avelo Airlines is adding four new cities to its operations as it continues its expansion plans.

The new routes will service the Midwest and Southeast regions of the U.S., with the addition of Lansing, Michigan; Newport News/Williamsburg, Virginia; Lexington, Kentucky; and Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Avelo will begin flying to all four new locations by fall, with routes operating to and from popular Florida destinations Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Tampa.

Avelo’s service in Lansing will offer two nonstop flights to Orlando in late October, while Kalamazoo will also have two nonstop flights to Orlando, starting at the end of October.

Lexington flights will service both Orlando and Tampa with nonstop flights in mid-October and mid-November, with Newport News/Williamsburg serving Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Tampa with nonstop flights beginning in mid-to-late October and mid-November.

With the addition of the four new destinations, Avelo will now fly to a total of 29 cities. To grow the new routes, Avelo is offering introductory fares that range in price from $29 to $59 on one-way tickets.

“From the start, we have focused on bringing more choice, convenience and affordability in air travel to underserved communities," Jim Olson, a spokesperson for the Avelo, told USA Today. "The addition of these four great markets to Avelo’s expanding network is the latest example of how we are making travel easier for more people.”

The airline, which debuted in April 2021, also recently opened a new crew base in Orlando in June, where it expects to add 150 new jobs over the next year.

“Our new Orlando base is making this expansion possible -– but we are just getting started as we continue to execute our flight plan for growth in the weeks and months ahead,” Olson added.
