It's only normal for the employees to duck for cover or make a complete surrender when a bank falls target to an armed robbery, but it takes only a brave heart to confront the armed men with whatever limited means they have. There are stories about bank robbers being fought off with sledgehammers, knives, and even rocks but the incident of fending off attackers with a plier is one for the books.

Well, that's exactly what happened at an Indian bank where a bank manager forced a robber to flee by threatening him with a plier-- not half as deadly as a gun or a knife.

The incident took place Saturday at the Marudhara Gramin Bank in Sri Ganganagar in the Indian state of Rajasthan. CCTV camera footage shows the manager springing into action just as the robber starts to threaten the employees with a knife. The manager, identified as Poonam Gupta, picks up a plier and scares off the man with it.

The clip, obtained by NDTV, shows the masked robber carrying a bag which he drops at the entrance and enters the bank with a knife. The second clip appears to show the interiors of the bank with the robber flashing a knife at the employees. Gupta, in her cabin at that time, storms out hearing loud noises, and confronts the attacker, who looks unfazed as he walks around the branch asking the staffers to fill another bag with cash.

And while he runs a riot, a plier falls from his pocket and Gupta hops on in the frame to quickly grab the tool, which she then points to the burglar, making him bolt out in almost an instant.

After the arrest, the accused - Lavish Arora - identified himself to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a notorious local gang that frequently engages in extortion and murders. The accused is said to be a resident of Davda Colony in Sriganganagar. He is being questioned by the authorities in connection with the robbery. Authorities are trying to ascertain if he has a criminal past.

Meanwhile, authorities are hailing Gupta as a hero for her quick actions that prevented the bank's total $36,534.60 (INR 30 lacs) reserves from being stolen, India TV reported.
