  • Ariana Greenblatt is the latest addition to the cast of the “Barbie” live-action movie
  • Details about her role and the plot of the Warner Bros. film are still unknown
  • Greenblatt has appeared in many films, including “Avengers: Infinity War”

Child actress Ariana Greenblatt will be entering “Barbie world” in the upcoming live-action movie inspired by Mattel’s world-famous doll.

The 14-year-old actress has officially joined the growing cast of the Warner Bros. project starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, Deadline reported Tuesday.

While Robbie’s and Gosling’s castings as the iconic Barbie and Ken couple have long been confirmed, there is still no word on the other cast members’ roles, including Greenblatt’s. The plot also remains to be a mystery.

Greenblatt is going to be a busy young lady following the news since she also has other projects in the works. She is playing the infamous Tiny Tina in Eli Roth’s movie adaptation of the “Borderlands” video game series alongside Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Hart. She’s also involved in Sony’s upcoming thriller, “65,” starring Adam Driver.

The child star has been making a name for herself in the showbiz industry by starring in several films, including “In the Heights,” “Love and Monsters,” “Boss Baby: The Family Business” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” according to Collider.

Earlier this month, “Saturday Night Live” star Kate McKinnon was tapped by producers to join the highly anticipated “Barbie” movie. This is going to be a reunion project for Robbie and McKinnon who previously worked together on 2019’s “Bombshell.”

Aside from McKinnon, “Ugly Betty” actress America Ferrera and “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Dragons” actor Simu Liu were also confirmed to be part of the cast.

The live-action movie will be directed by Greta Gerwig, who helmed the Oscar-nominated films “Lady Bird” and “Little Women.” Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are writing the script for the project.

Meanwhile, Robbie will be producing the film through her LuckyChap production banner with Tom Ackerley. David Heyman and Robbie Brenner are also producing through Heyday Films and Mattel, respectively. LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz are executive producing.

No release date has been announced yet, but the film is expected to hit cinemas sometime in 2023. Production will reportedly begin in early 2022 at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studios in London.
