The current situation in Barcelona has been abundant with rumors of internal turmoil amongst the management and coaching staff. The greatness of Barcelona for the past two decades has been linked to legendary players and it’s been speculated that the front office is looking to lure Inter Milan star, Lautaro Martinez.

One of the priorities of Barcelona now is to do whatever it takes to keep their legendary player Lionel Messi to stay with the club. It has been a hot topic as of late given how several teams have their eyes open for the six-time Ballon d’Or winner. One measure the team club is looking into is to fill the lineup with elite talent such as Martinez. The fellow Argentine will complement Messi’s game and may set Barcelona to a renewed direction in years to come.

But signing someone of Martinez’s caliber will come at a big price. Per Everything Barca, Barcelona is willing to put several players on sale to make room for the Argentine star. The former top scorer of the Under 20 South American Championships is reportedly worth 90 million Euros.

According to Edes Marque, the Camp Nou squad is considering selling several players for financial resources. These stars include Neto, Rafinha, Samuel Umtiti, Jean-Clair Todibo, Mousa Wague, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic.

Provided that the current economic landscape of the world has drastically changed due to the coronavirus, Barcelona is making a bold move if they pull through with this direction. It will be a big risk for Barca to give up a lot of key assets but the presence of Martinez will also be an immediate help for the club. In 75 overall appearances with Inter Milan, Martinez has already scored 75 times coupled with seven assists. The center forward has suited up for 31 games in this season’s Serie A notching 13 goals and five assists.

The rich influence of Messi and the success of Barcelona have served as a staple to all football fans. It will be interesting to see how developments turn out if several players leave the team in exchange for a promising 22-year-old.
