KEY POINTS

  • Ferran Torres scored twice in Barca's 4-0 win
  • Barca now have 51 points but also have a game in hand
  • Barcelona's next league fixture is against Real Madrid

FC Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has hailed his side, saying the Catalans are on the same level as Real Madrid right now.

Torres' comments came after Barcelona claimed a 4-0 win over Osasuna in La Liga on Sunday. It was the Camp Nou side's fourth straight win in the league as they climbed to No. 3 in the 2021-22 La Liga table with 51 points with a game in hand.

"Very happy for the victory. When you have chances, in the end they end up going in. When you miss chances then you work harder. We didn't play a good game the other day and the important thing is the team’s response. We are self-critical," Torres was quoted by Barca Blaugranes as saying in a post-match interview.

Torres opened the scoring in the 14th minute before doubling Barcelona's lead a few minutes later. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted the Catalans' third goal and substitute Riqui Puig added a fourth.

Ousmane Dembele was involved in two of those goals as he assisted Torres' second goal and Aubameyang's goal.

"We know the quality that Dembélé has. We have seen him in many games. The level he is showing does not surprise us at all. We know there is a Clásico, but we have to think about Thursday. We have to win there and then we'll think about the Clásico. Madrid are at a great level, but so are we," added Torres in the same interview.

Meanwhile, it was Aubameyang's fifth goal in six La Liga games since joining from Arsenal, making him the third-fastest Barcelona player to reach five goals in the competition in the 21st century, after Samuel Eto'o in 2004 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2009, according to BBC Sport.

Barcelona's next game is a Europa League meeting with Turkish club Galatasaray on Thursday. Following this, Xavi Hernandez's side has a massive test as they travel to Santiago Bernabeu to lock horns with league leaders Real Madrid.
