Pedro López’s stay at Camp Nou might be cut short as he is being linked to a transfer to Bayern Munich. A potential loan agreement with the Bundesliga giants is being considered by Barcelona as the Blaugrana explores options for the Spanish youngster's development process.

Although considered as one of the most promising midfielders in the country, Barca thinks Pedri might not be ripe for the picking just yet.

Jordi Batalla of Mundo Deportivo reports that the Catalan giants are more than willing to entertain the interest for the 17-year-old from several clubs, including Bayern Munich, as they are keen to keep the rising footballer off the club’s first team for now.

“Pedri, barely 17 years old, is shining with his own light and there are several clubs that keep track of him in case (Barcelona) does not have a place in the first team of Barça and looks for a way out on loan to continue progressing,” Batalla wrote.

“In Spain, they queue to welcome the footballer, but Pedri's talent has crossed borders and also has offers from abroad.”

Citing Sky Sports Germany, Nishant Narayanan of Everything Barca stated that Bayern could be a frontrunner to land Pedri as the club is in dire need of a potent midfielder. Rumors claim the German powerhouse is set to part ways with former Barca midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who could join another loaned Barcelona player, Philippe Coutinho, in leaving the Allianz Arena.

“After rejecting the option to keep fellow Barcelona midfielder, Philippe Coutinho, the German side only have former Barca midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, available in that position,” Narayanan wrote.

“The interesting part is that even Thiago has been heavily linked with an exit in the next transfer window forcing the Bundesliga giants to look for alternatives.

“Pedri has been named the perfect replacement as he shows signs of potential while also being extremely talented. Barca is reluctant to lose him for the same reason and feel that a move to Bayern will only hinder the player’s development as they cannot promise him regular minutes.”

Barca reached an agreement with Las Palmas in September 2019 to acquire the rights for Pedri in exchange for a fee worth about $5.8 million for two years. The contract finally took effect on July 1st.
