  • "Battlefield 2042" officially releases Friday

Following a wave of early reviews from select personalities, fans were disappointed after finding out how broken “Battlefield 2042’s” launch version really is.

The “early access” period for “Battlefield 2042” that started Friday allowed a number of fans to experience the all-out war DICE and EA promised ahead of the official launch, but many were disappointed to find out that the game was riddled with technical issues.

Contrary to some of the reviews released by critics and prominent members of the “Battlefield” community, many players ran into bugs that ranged from annoying to game-breaking.

One player said on Reddit that a number of servers for the Breakthrough simply refused to end after the end of a match, causing players to join games that are technically already over. Meanwhile, another user claimed that the game refused to save their loadouts.

Other players encountered worse issues. Server connectivity issues, hard crashes, hit registration problems and more have made enjoying “Battlefield 2042” difficult so far.

These issues are apparently more prominent in the Xbox version of the game, according to Euro Gamer. Distracting graphical glitches and severe rubberbanding were the main problems for the Xbox version of the game, though there’s no word yet on how the PS5 version plays.

Technical issues aren’t the only complaints about “Battlefield 2042,” however. Some players claimed the game seems to have regressed from “Battlefield V” in terms of how the gunplay feels and how each match flows.

Fans also complained about how squadplay in “Battlefield 2042” feels almost irrelevant. The lack of any voice comms and the apparent identity crisis brought upon by the introduction of hero-like Specialists with flexible loadouts watered down the classic “Battlefield” experience that incentivizes solo play over teamwork when playing with strangers.

Despite the terrible state of the game, some fans remain hopeful that the developers will improve upon the game over time just like they did with the previous “Battlefield” titles that experienced rough launches. Moreover, there’s still a chance that the game will receive a patch once the final release version goes live this Friday.
