“Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” actor Ben Affleck dons the black cape in the upcoming “Justice League” movie. However, several reports claim that the 44-year-old actor will also star and direct a standalone movie on Batman soon. But that may not be the case.

Affleck told The Guardian in an interview that he may not helm the solo Batman film, tentatively titled “The Batman.” “That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the “Argo” actor was presented with a script for a movie on the caped crusader in July last year, but he rejected it since he wasn’t happy with it.

Affleck was quizzed about why he took on the role of Bruce Wayne in the DC comics movie. He answered honestly, “[My son] Sam thinks his dad is Batman. That’s an incredible feeling.”

Apart from “Justice League,” the “Gone Girl” actor will be seen on the big screen in 2017 this month in “Live By Night.” Set in the 1920s and based on a novel by Dennis Lehane, the motion picture sees Affleck play Joe Coughlin, the son of a corrupt policeman. The father of three has both directed and acted in the movie. His character falls in love with the girlfriend of a notorious mob boss. When he finds out that she is unfaithful, the gangster targets his wrath on Coughlin. Fortunately, he barely escapes the clutches of the mobster. Then, he starts working for a competing mob and quickly rises in rank.

Affleck is keen to work with best friend and childhood buddy Matt Damon, but says that a good two-handed script is rare to find.

“Justice League” releases on Nov. 17 and “Live By Night” hits theatres on Jan. 13.
