Breaking Bad
Aaron Paul, who played Jesse Pinkman in “Breaking Bad,” said that he might appear in “Better Call Saul” Season 3. AMC

If there are two things “Better Call Saul” fans want the most, it’s the return of their favorite “Breaking Bad” characters Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and Walter White (Bryan Cranston). Pinkman and White have both hinted at their returns in the prequel, but neither said anything concrete. Until now.

Paul appeared in “The Ellen Show” Tuesday to promote a new season of his Hulu drama “The Path.” The Emmy award-winning actor first talked about surprising his wife, Lauren Parsekian, on her birthday by gifting her a trip to Thailand. Then, host Ellen DeGeneres asked him if his drug smuggling character will appear in “Better Call Saul” Season 3.

“God, I hope so,” Paul replied. “Maybe I already shot it. We just – or they just – wrapped the [latest] season.”

Of course, Paul’s tease should be taken with a pinch of salt. He could be just messing with eager fans. On the other hand, it could be that his troubled character is making an appearance in the upcoming season.

If Pinkman does appear, it will most likely be in Saul’s (Bob Odenkirk) flash-forwards since he was too young in the show’s current timeline. In the “Better Call Saul” timeline, Pinkman is still a high school student. In the flash-forwards, fans can see what happened to him after he escaped captivity.

In “Breaking Bad,” the drug smuggler was held against his will in order to help a group of criminals cook pure meth. It will be interesting to see what became of his character. We know that Saul/Jimmy McGill became a Cinnabon manager and goes by the name of Gene now.

If Pinkman does return, he will join returning characters Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), Tuco (Raymond Cruz), Hector (Mark Margolis), Nacho (Michael Mando) and Krazy-8 (Max Arciniega) in Season 3.

“Better Call Saul” Season 3 premieres Monday, April 10 at 10 p.m. EST on AMC.
