Beyoncé reportedly did not like her wedding gown that was designed by her mom Tina Knowles. The 62-year-old opened up about her daughter’s bridal gown during an appearance on the “Today” show on Tuesday. The mother-of-two said that Bey was not too excited about her gown for her big day.

Tina said that Bey allowed her to design her wedding gown and was very sweet. “She came back later one day and she said, ‘You know, when my daughter gets married, I’m going to let her pick out her own dress,” said Tina. The “Crazy In Love” singer married her rapper husband Jay Z in April 2008.

Bey opted for a wearing an ivory wedding gown designed especially by her mum. The strapless gown featured a ruffled skirt, and the singer paired it with a long veil to complete her bridal look. Bey’s fans got a glimpse of her wedding dress in “I Was Here,” her 2011 music video.

Beyoncé was not too excited about her wedding gown. But she recently praised her mother for designing many bespoke outfits for her. When she was in Destiny’s Child many designers refused to dress her during her early stages. Bey said that her mom Tina and Uncle Johnny, who was no more, designed all of their first outfits that too by hand.

When Bey collected her Fashion Icon Award at the CDFA Awards ceremony she said her first CDFA outfit, wedding dress, prom dress as well as her first Grammy dress was designed by her mom. She reminisced how her mother individually sewed hundreds of crystals and pearls on every outfit. She was overwhelmed how her mom put passion and love into every small detail.

Bey added that designers did not want to dress four colored, country and curvy girls. Besides, they could not afford designers or couture dresses. The “Lemonade” singer said that her mom was too happy to help and designed all their outfits.
