Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton on Wednesday sued the road manager of the chart-topping hip-hop band the Black Eyed Peas for allegedly punching him in the face outside a Toronto nightclub at the weekend.

Hilton -- whose real name is Mario Lavandeira -- filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Polo Molina, alleging battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He is seeking unspecified damages.

Hilton was punched on Sunday night, after making an appearance at Canada's MuchMusic Video Awards, and immediately sent out a series of urgent messages on the social-networking site Twitter detailing his misfortune.

He has said that Molina was angry with him for making negative comments about the band's latest album, The E.N.D, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. pop chart last week.

The suit said Molina punched Hilton several times in what can only be described as a spineless act, and injured an eye.

A representative for Molina was not immediately available for comment.
