The race for $10 million won’t resume anytime soon in next week’s Season 1, episode 5 of “Blood Drive.”

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, a deadly sex plague is unleashed on the Mayhem Party, turning those who are infected into sex-obsessed individuals. “Something strange is in the air and urge is growing stronger,” the narrator says in the trailer for the episode, suggesting that that the plague may be passed from one victim to another through thin air. It’s unclear where the plague originated, but a teaser for the episode posted on “Blood Drive’s” Syfy page reveals that Arthur (Alan Ritchson) makes a deal with “crazy, sex-obsessed” twins to save Grace’s (Christina Ochoa) sister, Karma (Alex McGregor).

In Season 1, episode 4, Grace and Arthur managed to get to Kane Hill Mental Hospital where Grace was expecting to be reunited with Karma. Before leaving the Mayhem Party, Grace made a deal with The Scholar (Darren Kent) to mess with Slink’s (Colin Cunningham) brain-bomb remote control. When Slink found out about Grace and Arthur’s unauthorized detour from the race, he ordered Rib Bone (Brandon Auret) to go and find them. Rib Bone was still pretty mad that Grace and Arthur messed up his plan to feed cheerleaders to his car in Season 1, episode 1, so he followed Slink’s order at once, hoping to seek revenge.

Grace came across Karma’s doctor at the asylum. Before the doctor was killed by one of the patients, he told Grace that finding Karma is very important. Grace later discovered that Karma was transferred to another facility. Hoping to find out the name of the facility Karma was transferred to, Grace rushed downstairs to look for her sister’s file. She and Arthur, however, were attacked by Rib Bone.

The partners eventually managed to blow the asylum up. But before the explosion, Grace got hold of a photo of the mental facility’s 1957 staff, which surprisingly includes Slink. Could this mean that Karma’s mental state and the events that followed were somehow orchestrated by Slink?

“Blood Drive” Season 1, episode 5 airs on Wednesday, July 12 at 10 p.m. EDT on Syfy. Watch the trailer for the episode below:
