Saul "Canelo" Alvarez takes his boxing seriously and prefers to face only professional boxers.

However, it appears he has slightly changed his stance–particularly when it comes to YouTuber and neophyte boxer Jake Paul.

The 31-year-old boxing champion was leaving Beauty & Essex in Los Angeles recently, and a photographer reportedly asked him several questions, TMZ reported.

Alvarez is not exactly a fan of what Jake and his brother Logan Paul are doing in boxing. He issued a warning back in May, questioning why the YouTubers were given licenses to box.

"They could get them killed. This is not a soccer game, they could get them killed," Alvarez said when he was interviewed by Graham Bensinger at the time. "If there's a death, the commission will be responsible. Why? Because they issued the license for the fight."

But fast-forward to the present, it appears the Mexican is singing a different tune.

When asked if he would give Paul a chance, Alvarez replied by saying “Not right now.” To back that up, he feels that the YouTuber is not yet ready.

When further pressed if Paul was a good option, Alvarez instead said: "If he wants someone to fight, we have this guy right here (pointing to someone beside him)."

Seeing the 24-year-old get that chance to face Alvarez in the ring is a long shot. It may take several more years before it happens–possibly when the Mexican is either retired or nearing retirement.

For now, Alvarez is focused on his upcoming fight with Caleb Plant on November 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The IBF super middleweight title will be on the line with Alvarez looking to deal the 29-year-old American his first professional boxing career loss.

Incidentally, bemedalled amateur boxer Cam F. Awesome was asked for his forecast on the Alvarez vs. Plant fight when he appeared on the Sports Bytes PH podcast last August 20 opposite Filipino journalists Brian Yalung, Rica Aquino and Vincent Juico.

“I’m gonna go 100% Caleb because he is my friend. And I support him, I know him. I am Canelo fan, but not over my friend Caleb. So I’m all for Caleb. This ain’t about belts, this ain’t nothing about fighting. Boxing is a business,” Awesome stated.
