Daniel Jacobs is all pumped for his upcoming clash with Saul Canelo Alvarez on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and the 32-year-old is confident about his chances. Like many boxing fans, the Golden Child is aware of talk regarding an Alvarez vs. Golovkin trilogy – something he intends to spoil.

The May 4 clash is actually a unification bout with the IBF, WBA, WBC middleweight belts on the line. This alone gives Jacobs reason to go all out and conquer the Mexican Brawler with likely repercussions. That includes the chance to get back at Gennady Golovkin, a fight where he performed well on March 2017, Boxing Scene reported.

Against Alvarez, Jacob plans to take the fight to the Mexican right from the opening bell. In the same report, he seems to have admitted following the 28-year-old and believed that the Mexican lost some of those fights – including the ones against GGG.

"There are some controversial fights that he's had that where I thought he lost, including both Golovkin fights. But I respect any man that has the courage to fight as this is a kill or be killed sport, but that's where the respect ends. As far as getting in the ring with him goes, I want to be the victor. I want to take his head off and prove that I am the best gladiator in the world," Jacobs said.

It remains to be seen if such a statement will fire up Alvarez heading into their fight. All has been calm so far between the two although things are bound to change once they enter the ring on May 4. For Jacobs, there is plenty at stake – including a potential rematch with the Kazakh destroyer.

As far as Golovkin is concerned, the Kazakh KO artist is also on the comeback trail. He is set to fight on June 8, Manila Bulletin Sports reported. The former middleweight champion takes on undefeated Canadian Steve Rolls, his first fight since losing to Alvarez last year.

Golovkin, 37, has signed a six-fight deal with DAZN and will be looking to pick up the pieces and possibly set the stage for a third fight with the Mexican redhead. Alvarez previously said that the only way he will face GGG again is if he holds a title – meaning the long road to redemption for Golovkin will start on June 8 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
