It’s a given fact that the last quarter of 2016 had been quite challenging for Brad Pitt, especially after estranged wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce. Fortunately, Pitt seemed to have braved the controversies surrounding the divorce and custody battle as he made two rare post-split appearances this 2017.

Pitt got a loud cheer of support when he made a surprise appearance at the 74th Golden Globes Awards on Jan. 8 amid his divorce and custody battle with Jolie. Even though many took notice of the 53-year-old actor losing a lot of weight, an insider revealed Pitt has been focusing on himself again, Daily Mail noted.

The latest proof of Pitt moving on was his recent appearance at the Fourth Annual ROCK4EB charity event at a private Malibu residence. According to E! News, Pitt seemed to be happier and in great spirits as he was seen smiling at the event, which featured acoustic performances from Sting and Pitt’s pal, Chris Cornell.

"He [Pitt] was in a great mood," an insider told the publication. "He hung out with his peeps."

The Malibu charity event, which Pitt attended, was hosted by Zach Galifianakis for the benefit of the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, People revealed. Just Jared added the foundation aims to promote awareness about the rare and life-threatening skin disease known as epidermolysis bullosa (EB), which “causes blister formation after minor trauma to the skin, including scarring and disfiguring of the skin and internal organs.”

Pitt was part of the foundation’s board of directors. At the star-studded charity event that was sponsored by jeweler Alex and Ani, Pitt was also joined by other A-list Hollywood celebrities such as Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber, Scott Foley and wife Marika Dominczyk, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and wife Sam Taylor Johnson, Ed O'Neil, Charlie Hunnam, Rami Malek, Ian Ziering, Kim Basinger, Heidi Klum, Courteney Cox, Garrett Hedlund, Kaley Cuoco and Elizabeth Olsen.

Meanwhile, Pitt has stayed away from the prying eyes of the public since the news of his divorce broke out in September of last year. Even though Pitt and Jolie faced an intense custody battle, the estranged couple finally reached an agreement to deal with the separation privately for the sake of their six children — 15-year-old Maddox, 13-year-old Pax, 12-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old Shiloh, 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, Us Weekly reported.
