Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s adopted son, Maddox, recently celebrated his 18th birthday in Cleveland.

The “Maleficent” star joined her son on the trip. Her good friend, Loung Ung uploaded a photo of the actress, Maddox, and their friends dining outdoors.

“Angelina and Maddox visited me in Cleveland this past week to toast Maddox’s upcoming 18th birthday! We started with lunch at Market Garden Brewpub and a visit to Ohio City Farm/The Refugee Response Program and Cleveland Museum of Art!” Ung captioned the photo.

Jolie’s friend also revealed that she first met Maddox when he was just a year old. But he is 18 now and will soon be heading to college in South Korea.

Unfortunately, even though Pitt has joint legal and physical custody of his six children, he still wasn’t invited to Maddox’s simple birthday celebration. A tabloid previously claimed that despite the actor’s efforts to maintain a close bond with his kids, his relationship with them is actually strained.

An unnamed source also told the tabloid that Pitt and Jolie’s eldest kids don’t want to have anything to do with him.

“His eldest kids never want to see him, and that hurts him. They’re on Angie’s side – and always have been,” the source said.

Last year, a judge also ruled that Maddox’s preference on who he wants to stay with will depend on his sole preference because he is already old enough to make his own decision.

Meanwhile, even though Pitt was unable to celebrate Maddox’s birthday this year, he managed to spend time with his six children last year when he turned 55. A source told E! News that Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox dropped by Pitt’s house for a sleepover.

“Some of them were picked up at 12:30 p.m. on Brad’s birthday – Tuesday – and taken back to Angelina’s. Some of them stayed for more time with their dad,” the source said.
