Hillsong Church co-founder Brian Houston built a massive fortune before resigning as global senior pastor at his Australia-based megachurch earlier this year. Here's a look at the pastor's net worth and career.

Houston resigned as global senior pastor at Hillsong Church in March following complaints of inappropriate behavior. The 68-year-old evangelist, who is married to wife Bobbie, was accused of sending "inappropriate text messages" to a member of the church's staff and "spending time with the female occupant" of a "hotel room that was not his" at a Hillsong conference, CBS News reported.

Months before his resignation, he announced that he would be stepping aside from all ministry responsibilities after he was charged in Sydney, Australia, with concealing child sex offenses in August 2021.

Houston knew information related to his late preacher father's sexual abuse of a young boy in the 1970s but did not report the information to police, authorities alleged. His father confessed to the abuse before he died in 2004 at age 82, the Associated Press reported.

Today, Houston has an estimated net worth of $10 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

He and his wife Bobbie originally established their church in 1983 as Hills Christian Life Centre, in Baulkham Hills, New South Wales. It has since grown into a worldwide megachurch with congregations in 30 countries.

From 1997 to 2009, Houston served as the National President of the Australian Christian Churches, the Australian branch of the Assemblies of God.

Aside from being a pastor, Houston is also an author. The books he wrote include “Get A Life” “You Can Change The Future,” “You Need More Money,” “How To Build Great Relationships,” “How To Live A Blessed Life,” “How To Flourish In Life” and “How To Make Wise Decisions.”

He was also an executive producer of Hillsong Music Australia, which has released over 60 albums.

Earlier this month, Bobbie, who vowed to stand by her husband following the complaints against him, told her Instagram followers that she and Houston are “pressing on” and trusting the “righteous courts of heaven.”

“For those interested, we are still here. Pressing on with trust in the Living God & the righteous Courts of Heaven. Enemies of the Cross (and maybe others who should know better) forget that everything that concerns His Son and His Bride plays out ultimately before the Courts of Heaven,” she wrote alongside a photo of her and Houston.

“I don’t speak of these things often or lightly —but there is a holy Heavenly Father who is very engaged and watchful of our every move, thought, word, intent, action. Ultimately because He loves us and is redemptive. ... He is more present and watchful of those human hearts than we realize,” she continued.

Over the years, Hillsong Church has been plagued with several scandals, including those involving former Hillsong NYC pastor Carl Lentz and former Hillsong Dallas pastors Reed and Jess Bogard.
