Britney Spears, who earlier slammed her 16-year-old son Jayden James for making "hateful" remarks about her, has shared an update about his relationship with his children. The 40-year-old singer said Sunday she has lost contact with her sons and she feels like a "huge part" of herself has "died."

Spears uploaded an audio clip to Instagram in which she looked back on the time when her kids spent more time with her than her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

"I used to have my kids, at one point, more than Kevin," she recalled. "People don't remember that part because they always focus on the negative, but when they were 6 to 9 years old, I had them 70% of the time."

She goes on to share that since the boys have been gone, "I've honestly felt like a huge part of me has died. Like literally, I have no purpose anymore. They were my joy, they were my everything ... that was what I lived for."

Spears further shares in the audio clip that she feels like her heart has stopped beating. "Honestly, I don't understand how it's just so easy for them just to cut me off like that. I don't understand it," she adds.

The audio clip came after "60 Minutes Australia" featured Spears' children and former husband in an episode. During an interview with Jayden, the boy revealed that he and his brother didn't attend their mother's wedding with Sam Asghari because the entire family was not invited.

Jayden also said he was hoping to reunite with his mother after she "[gets] better mentally."

The interview didn't sit well with Spears. She even shared a voice note on Instagram last week, saying she has been giving her ex-husband $40,000 every month and it will stop after the kids turn 18.

"Do you guys want me to get better so I can continue to give your dad $40,000 a month?" she asked at the time. "Or is the reasoning behind you guys deciding to be hateful is because it's actually over in two years and you don't get anything?"

Spears later took down the post from Instagram, but a fan account was able to save it and share it on Twitter.

Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007. Besides Jayden James, they share another son, Sean Preston, who is turning 17 Wednesday.
