A 22-year-old Bronx mother accused of killing her two sons Saturday may have stabbed them because she believed they were possessed, according to a report.

Dimone Fleming had been obsessed with demonic possession, and police are currently investigating whether or not she killed her children, ages 3 years old and 11 months, in connection with it, unnamed law enforcement sources told The New York Post Sunday.

"She made statements about the devil — unusual statements," one police source claimed.

Before the killings, Fleming posted on her Facebook page Saturday, "It's only one true God and I repent from all wrong doings [sic] and negative influence."

"Leaving all things that's [sic] no longer serves me... Thank you for your mercy," the mother of two added.

Police received a 911 call regarding an emotionally disturbed person in a family shelter on Echo Place in the Mount Hope neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City, Saturday.

The officers first went to the shelter at 7:20 p.m. but left without finding any of the children, who were believed to be in the bathtub at the time covered with a sheet or towel.

A shelter employee initially told police that the boys were with their father, resulting in the officers leaving the apartment after getting a hold of Fleming.

Police said they found Fleming on the third floor of the building "acting irrationally," with the bathroom tub overflowing and flooding the building.

Fleming was found naked while ranting and burning objects in the kitchen, The New York Times reported, citing a senior law enforcement official.

She was immediately taken into custody "without incident" and transported via ambulance to St. Barnabas Hospital for evaluation, Deputy Chief Louis Deceglie told reporters.

An hour later, around 7:55 p.m., police went back to the place after receiving a second call about the boys. The older was named Daishawn, and the younger was named Octavius, according to the Times.

According to the caller, the children's father had run out of the apartment screaming after finding his kids unresponsive. Officers who returned to the apartment found the two children with "multiple stab wounds" to the neck and torso. The kids were rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital but died of their injuries, Deceglie said.

Police said one of the boys was found on the floor, while another was on a bed. They believe the children were in the tub the first time they responded to the residence, sources told the New York Post.

One of the residents in the apartment building told the outlet that he helped the father pull the children out of the tub when he found them.

"I tried to give the little baby some air, but it was too much," the neighbor said.

According to the family's neighbors and acquaintances, Fleming and her family had lived at the shelter for about a year, and Fleming allegedly had been seen behaving weirdly and mistreating the children.

Fleming was revealed to have a history with the city's child welfare agency.

She was previously investigated by the Administration for Children's Services after her oldest son was born as she was suspected of improperly caring for the boy, unnamed sources told New York Post.

The mother is expected to face charges in the boys' deaths.
