  • "Butter" became the biggest premiere on YouTube when it was released

BTS just made another record as the “Butter” track has become the No. 1 song on the Gaon Digital chart this week.

The song reigned supreme on the Gaon Download chart as it was listed as the bestselling song in South Korea this week. “Kingdom Come” by THE BOYZ nabbed the second spot, followed by “Happen” by Heize and “If You Love Again” by Lim Young Woong at No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively.

“Journey to Atlantis” by MSG Wannabe TOP 8 was listed at No. 5 while “Burned All Black” made it to No. 6. OH MY GIRL’s “Dun Dun Dance,” Aespa’s “Next Level,” Jung Sang Soo’s “Resignation” and BTOB’s “Finale (Show And Prove)” wrapped up this week’s top 10 list.

BTS' "Butter" failed to debut at the top spot on the said tally unlike in the U.S. where the song first appeared on the list at the No. 4 spot and effortlessly rose all the way to No. 1 just days after.

The Gaon Digital chart ranks the most popular and most listened to songs in South Korea on a weekly basis using a methodology that combines streaming count, sales, and BGM, which stands for background music.

BTS has dominated the Gaon Digital chart many times before, which made them one of the most successful K-pop acts of all time. The South Korean group has controlled the tally with smash hits such as “Dynamite,” “Boy with Luv,” “Idol,” “Fake Love” and “Blood, Sweat & Tears” among others.

Meanwhile, Billboard previously revealed that “Butter” sold a whopping 242,000 digital copies in the U.S. alone during its first seven days. The massive number aided BTS’ second English-language song in snagging the largest sales frame of 2021.

If that’s not enough, “Butter” also received more than 32 million streams in America during its first week. The newest BTS track, which dropped on May 21, garnered over 18.1 million radio airplay audience impressions.

BTS members Jin, Jimin, Suga, RM, J-Hope, V, and Jungkook also made new records on YouTube with “Butter,” including that of the biggest premiere in the history of the popular video-sharing platform.
