KEY POINTS

  • "Dynamite" is the band's first major all-English single
  • BTS will be performing at the VMAs on Aug. 30 for the first time
  • Their upcoming single is set to receive a world premiere on some of the major radio chains in the U.S.

BTS, the most popular South Korean band, is set to release its new digital single "Dynamite" on Aug. 21.

The band's agency is working hard to make the digital single a global success despite restrictions that have emerged due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are three things that are being implemented by BTS's team to win the support of American radio stations:

1. Releasing songs In English

BTS has proven to be a massive success and has worked with big names in the American music industry including Steve Aoki, Niki Minaj, Sia, Halsey, etc.

However, even though BTS has released Japanese albums and a few English songs, they have been unsuccessful in landing a radio hit song in the United States. This might have been because they mostly perform in languages other than English. They hope to change that this year with their forthcoming first major all-English single.

2) Planning for a mega world premiere

The band's agency is preparing for a mega world premier to ensure "Dynamite" becomes a hit. According to sources, the band's upcoming single is already set to receive a world premiere on some of the major radio chains in the U.S.

3) Promotional tour across the U.S

While sending BTS across the country to promote "Dynamite" does not seem like a possibility at the time, it seems Columbia Records, the band's record label in the U.S., has sent out their radio promotion staff members out on tour buses to personally visit radio stations. Their aim is to garner support for the band among radio stations by playing them their future songs.

BTS is also set to perform at the VMAs for the first time ever Aug. 30 at 8 pm/EST. The band has been nominated for three categories including "Best Pop Video", "Best K-Pop Video" and "Best Choreography".

The band's previous album "Map of the Soul: 7" was released Feb. 21 under Big Hit Entertainment and successfully debuted as the number one album on the Billboard 200 chart with 422,000 sales earned during its first week of release. It was also the band’s fourth consecutive chart-topper in the country.
