Cardi B shocked fans when she filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Offset, on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

A month before filing for divorce, Cardi, 27, told Elle that although there was a lot of drama in her relationship with the 28-year-old Migos rapper, there were moments of passion and love as well.

"I do know that my relationship has a lot of drama and everything. But there's a lot of love, there's a lot of passion, there's a lot of trust, there's a big friendship," she said at the time. "It's always us against the world."

However, in court filings obtained by E! News, the "WAP" hitmaker has discarded any possibility of a reunion, stating that her marriage is "irretrievably broken" and that "there are no prospects for a reconciliation."

Cardi and Offset tied the knot in September 2017 in a ceremony held at their home, just a few months after they went public with their relationship. Cardi revealed that she did not have a wedding dress or a ring.

Cardi and Offset welcomed their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, in July 2018, and the couple hit a bump in their marriage a few days later.

Just days after setting the stage on fire with a big kiss at the Jingle Ball in December, Cardi announced that they were no longer together, with rumors of Offset’s infidelity hitting the internet at the time.

"I guess we grew out of love, but we're not together anymore," she explained on Instagram. "I don't know. It might take time to get a divorce and I'm gonna always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter's father."

Shortly after Cardi’s announcement, Offset took to Instagram to apologize for his actions. Later, he surprised Cardi with a cake and 2,000 white and red roses during her performance at the Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles.

In January last year, Cardi revealed that they were working to improve their relationship. A month later, they announced their reunion with some serious PDA on the Grammy Awards red carpet.

Cardi opened up about her husband’s infidelity in December 2019, telling Vogue that she believes in forgiveness.

"I prayed on it. Me and my husband, we prayed on it. We had priests come to us. And we just came to an understanding like, bro, it's really us against the world," she said.

"He has my back for everything, I have his back for everything, so when you cheat, you're betraying the person that has your back the most," Cardi continued. "Why would you do that? We have come to a clear understanding. For me, monogamy is the only way. I'll beat your a-- if you cheat on me."

Although the couple continued to express their love for one another on social media, Cardi hinted at a possible separation recently when she posted a cryptic quote on her Instagram Stories that read, "Her heart finally told her to stop wasting her time."
