It has been exactly one year since Steve Burton returned to “General Hospital” to reprise his role as Jason Morgan.

After making his first appearance on the ABC soap opera in 1991, the actor left the daytime series in 2012 and became a part of the “The Young and the Restless” cast. However, around five years later, “GH” fans began to rejoice after Burton announced he would be returning to the role that first won him the heart of viewers.

Although fans didn’t get to see a lot of the actor when he returned to the soap on Sept. 19, 2017, his mere presence on screen was enough to get them excited about Jason’s future in Port Charles--more specifically, his love story with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco).

It was eventually revealed that Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) successfully completed a memory changing procedure that made Drew Cain (Billy Miller) believe he was the real Jason. In the end, Sam realized she still loved Jason and divorced her husband.

After surviving countless tragedies, Jason and Sam have finally reached a place in which they have a chance to be together. Even though their reunion isn’t happening as quickly as fans would have hoped, watching the two interact on screen after Burton’s five-year absence has been a special treat while viewers patiently wait for the couple to officially get back together.

Celebrate Burton’s return to “General Hospital” by watching some of Jason and Sam’s cutest moments over the years.

Sam And Jason’s First Kiss

After having too many drinks at Emily’s (Natalia Livingston) wedding reception, Sam and Jason returned to the penthouse, where she was ready to dance. Even though there was no music playing, Sam forced Jason to slow dance with her until she eventually lost her balance and brought him falling to the floor alongside her. Drunk and curious about what it would be like to kiss Jason, Sam went in for the ultimate lip lock and thus sparked the beginning of what fans now refer to as JaSam.

“A Scary Monster”

Believing Jason would be busy attending to a crisis, Sam decided to take advantage of the empty penthouse by throwing on her comfy clothes and cleansing her face with a mud mask. Her relaxed day turned into complete horror when Jason walked in and spotted her looking like “a scary monster.” When Sam tried to make a break for the bathroom to wash off the mask, Jason playfully grabbed her and the embarrassing moment ended in a sweet kiss.

The Proposal

Finally ready to take his relationship with Sam to the next level, Jason reached out to Maxie (Kirsten Storms) to set up a romantic dinner and pick out some impressive evening wear. Unfortunately, Jason’s plan to pop the question went south when Maxie accidentally dropped the engagement ring off the roof of a building. Despite Maxie’s warning that the incident could be an omen and her suggestion that Jason wait to propose with a new ring, he asked Sam to marry him anyway. However, she left him in suspense when she decided to take a unique approach to answer his question.

Danny’s Safe Return

After being sexually assaulted by Franco (James Franco), Sam discovered she was pregnant and took a paternity test. When Jason’s cousin, Heather Webber (Robin Mattson), told Sam Franco was the father of her child, Jason revealed he wasn’t sure if he could love Franco’s baby. Heartbroken, Sam moved out and eventually gave birth to a baby boy, who Heather later kidnapped. The baby’s disappearance brought Jason and Sam back together where they went on the ultimate mission to rescue their son. His safe return inspired the couple to get back together.

The New Year’s Kiss

It took a few months, but after some serious scheming, Carly (Laura Wright) paid a bartender to tamper with Drew’s car, leaving him stranded on the side of the road while en route to meet Sam. Over on The Haunted Star, Carly managed to trap Jason and Sam on the boat just hours before the New Year. Although Sam was still with Drew at the time, she couldn’t resist the opportunity to kiss her first love on such a special night. The passionate lip lock was the first kiss the characters shared together since Burton’s return. The moment gave JaSam fans their first sign of hope that Jason and Sam were far from over.
