The Boston Celtics begin training camp this week and there is heightened expectation about the 15th and final place on their roster going into the new season. They currently have 14 guaranteed contracts going into the regular season but have four players Tacko Fall, Javone Green, Yante Maten and Kaiser Gates fighting for the final place on the NBA roster.

Fall went undrafted in 2019 NBA Draft but was signed up by the Celtics for the summer league. He impressed playing all five games, which saw the Celtics offer him an Exhibit 10 deal going into training camp.

He remains the favorite to land the final place on the roster but it is not a given. Fall will have to impress during training camp to beat Green, Gates and newly acquired Maten to get a guaranteed deal for the 2019-20 campaign.

Fall averaged 7.2 points and 1.4 blocks per game in the summer league which earned him high praise from Celtics general manager Danny Ainge. They are keen to help him develop as a player and will also be aware of the huge marketable potential he possesses.

The Senegal-born center’s agent Justin Haynes is not too concerned with regards to his client's future as he is certain there will be other NBA franchises lining up to sign Fall should he be released by the Celtics ahead of the regular season, according to The Boston Globe’s Justin Himmelsbach, via NESN.

Fall was again in the news on Sunday as Celtics’ starting center hosted his final free basketball camp at UMass-Boston. The 7’6” center was part of the interaction and showed his dunking skills by almost making Enes Kanter a poster. The Turkey national had to take evasive action to avoid the rookie center, which would not have ended well for Kanter.
