  • Liverpool are set to host Ajax in UCL on Tuesday
  • The Reds lost 4-1 in their opening UCL fixture last week
  • Andy Robertson is expected to be out for the remainder of the month

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was injured and would miss their Champions League fixture against Ajax, boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed Monday.

Robertson picked up an injury during Liverpool's 4-1 Champions League loss to Napoli last week.

In a pre-match conference Monday, Klopp claimed Robertson could be out for the remainder of the month.

"[He is] injured. Robbo is not 100 per cent. [It happened] very late, 93rd minute, he felt it the next day only. He is out until at least after the international break," Klopp told reporters.

In the Scottish left-back's absence, Kostas Tsimikas will be given a chance to start against Ajax. The Greek defender started in the Merseyside derby draw with Everton at Goodison Park when Robertson was left on the bench.

Liverpool were due to face Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon but the game was postponed. A new date for the encounter will be announced later, according to a release from Liverpool.

The international break will go begin after Tuesday's Champions League fixture. Liverpool will return to action on Oct. 1 when they are scheduled to host Brighton at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Klopp also confirmed that both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not be back from injury until October. Both have been left out of the Liverpool squad for the Champions League group stages, which will end on Nov.1.

"No I don't expect [Keita] to go on international duty [with Guinea]. The expected return date is some time in October, that is why we had to make the decision. Ox is the same, and that is why the two boys were not in the Champions League squad. We had to make the decision now, or last week," added Klopp, according to Goal.com.

While midfielder Curtis Jones remains sidelined, new summer signing Fabio Carvalho, who missed the Napoli game due to a dead leg, will return for the Reds when they take on Ajax at Anfield on Tuesday.
