Chet Hanks opened up about the "toxic" fame he received due to his famous parents Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, but added that he loves them and don’t wish to have any different parents or different life.

In a YouTube video shared Tuesday, the 31-year-old actor admitted that he feels "very blessed" that he gets to travel around the world in a private plane and stay in nice hotels.

Talking about fame, Chet said: "The truth is it's a double-edged sword. It's a lot more complicated and not so many people really understand it. You got to keep in mind that fame is the most powerful drug known to man. It can also be the most destructive, people are infatuated with fame."

Chet further explained how people keep famous people on a pedestal and that creates a lot of jealousy and envy. He noted how people do anything to become famous, thinking that it is going to validate them.

"I've been guilty of that too," he said, before adding: "True validation can only come from yourself."

He went on to share his personal experience with fame and why it was complicated for him. "My experience was even more complicated because, on top of fame already being toxic, I wasn't even famous," the actor said. "I was just the son of somebody famous so I hadn't even done anything to deserve any sort of recognition and that created a lot of contempt."

The "Fantastic Four" star also opened up about his life as a student. "People would make up their minds about me before they even got the chance to know me and it was extremely hard to break down their walls," he shared.

"Everybody was just prepared to hate my guts and that caused me to develop a chip on my shoulder and walk around with a lot of anger and it led me to create this hard exterior."

Chet admitted that people used to gossip about him behind his back and it was never on his face. However, the actor noted that he is a changed person now and he is no longer on the path of self-destruction.

Chet was born in 1990 after his parents tied the knot in 1988. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson also share a 25-year-old son named Truman Hanks.

On the work front, Chet will be next seen in a movie, "Dead Wrong," which is under post-production.
