Chipotle (CMG) is giving away free burritos for National Burrito Day through the metaverse on a new simulation experience that will challenge fans to roll virtual burritos to earn Burrito Bucks that can be redeemed for free food.

By using the Chipotle Burrito Builder on Roblox –- a video game-like feature -- fans can win freebies starting Thursday, April 7, when National Burrito Day is celebrated. The first 100,000 players who successfully roll a burrito will earn enough Burrito Bucks to exchange them for an entrée code that can be redeemed on the Chipotle app, at Chipotle.com or Chipotle.ca.

The top five players on the Burrito Builder real-time leaderboard by 11:59 p.m. PT each day from Thursday to Wednesday, April 13, will win free burritos for a year from the chain. Only players in the U.S. are eligible for the prize of free burritos for the year.

Additional prizes can be earned by participating in side quests, where players can deliver burritos to customers in the neighborhood and unlock additional rewards.

The Chipotle Burrito Builder will go live at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday and can be accessed at https//www.roblox.com/chipotle.

If you are not one of the 100,000 players to roll the perfect burrito on Roblox, not to worry as Chipotle will still reward you with a free side or topping of Queso Blanco with the purchase of an entrée when using the digital-only promo code “NBD2022” at checkout on the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com. In Canada, customers can use the promo code "QUESO22" in-app or online at Chipotle.ca.

This is not the first time that Chipotle has introduced a Roblox experience. It first launched a Halloween promotion for the Chipotle Boo-rito Maze in October 2021 using the concept.

For this year’s Burrito Builder design, Chipotle was inspired by the year that its burrito was born in 1993 and the company’s first restaurant location in Denver. Players will have the chance to wear 90’s-inspired uniforms while rolling their burritos as they “unlock new virtual items inspired by ‘90s fashion.”

Adding to the theme of the Chipotle Burrito Builder on Roblox, the chain also introduced a new menu burrito item that features white rice, black beans, chicken, fresh tomato salsa, tomatillo red-chili salsa, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, and guac, It will be available to order in the Chipotle app and online on Thursday for a limited time.

Chipotle also said it will be giving away 1 million Robux to fans on Thursday via its Twitter account.

As of Tuesday at 10:36 a.m. ET, shares of Chipotle were trading at $1,594.00, down $16.75, or 1.04%.
