Chris Brown was the big winner at the BET Music Awards , held in Los Angeles on Sunday. The 21-year-old singer bagged four awards.

Chris, who also performed at the show, won best male R&B artist, the best collaboration for his song Look At Me Now with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, the Fandemonium award and the Viewers' Choice prize, reported the Associated Press.

Public-speaking is not my strong suit, he said, thanking BET and his fans before passing the microphone to Wayne.

Chris Brown has been working hard to improve his image after pleading guilty for assaulting his girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. He has made a come back with the release of his new album F.A.M.E. which has been received well. After the assault charges, it was at the very same BET awards that Chris Brown paid a very emotional tribute to Michael Jackson.

There was a bit of a glitch when a fan announced Rihanna as the Viewer’s Choice awardee which was accepted by Drake but it was later clarified that Chris Brown was the winner. Rihanna won the best female R&B artist.

Patti Labelle won the Life Time Achievement award, and was given a musical tribute by Cee Lo Green wearing a Labelle inspired headdress. The singer herself performed her classic, Lady Marmalade. Nicki Minaj won the best hip hop artist award.

Other singers who performed a the show included Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg, Queen Latifah, Lil Wayne, Mary J Blige, Anita Baker and Bruno Mars.
Beyonce’s show-ending performance at the Glastonbury festival was beamed alive.

As the artist line-up testifies, the whole show was very performance-heavy and lasted for nearly four hours.
