For the first time on Monday night, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo addressed the resignation of his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, after a recent state report found that Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed as many as 11 female employees.

Chris Cuomo spoke about his brother’s scandal on "Cuomo Prime Time," breaking his silence after avoiding the network’s coverage of the harassment report.

"It's never been easy to be in this business coming from a political family, especially now," Chris Cuomo said about his decision not to cover the scandal. “I never covered my brother’s troubles because I obviously have a conflict and there are rules at CNN about that.”

Chris Cuomo added that he urged Andrew Cuomo to resign “when the time came.”

"My advice to my brother was simple and consistent: Own what you did. Tell people what you’ll do to be better. Be contrite. And finally, accept that it doesn’t matter what you intended. What matters is how your actions and words were perceived,” Chris Cuomo said.

Andrew Cuomo, who was facing possible impeachment, announced his resignation on Aug. 10, stating he would officially step down within 14 days. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul is set to take over and finish the rest of his term.

Earlier this month, the state's attorney general report found Andrew Cuomo engaged in “unwelcome and nonconsensual touching,” and repeatedly made comments on a “sexualized or gender-based nature.”

He had been receiving growing pressure to resign, most notably from President Joe Biden.
