Chris Evans has revealed that he is always looking for a way out of acting and is considering to change his career for several decades now.

Speaking with his “Avengers” co-star Scarlett Johansson for Variety, the 38-year-old actor confessed that he thinks of walking away from Hollywood “every couple of months” and has to frequently talk himself out of retirement.

“Every couple of months, I decide I am done acting. This has been my thing for decades now. I am always looking for a way out, but I do love it,” Evans said.

Evans started his career in 2001 with romantic comedies like “Not Another Teen Movie” and went on to grab his first superhero movie “Fantastic Four” in the year 2004. But his moment of glory came ten years after his debut when it was announced that he will be portraying the iconic character of Captain America in 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

Since then, he has been an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which has taken his popularity to a whole new level. A major part of his earnings come from the movies he has done in this cinematic universe.

But now, the “Snowpiercer” star believes that there are much better opportunities on the small screen and TV shows are able to give better creative opportunities than films. The actor also admitted that the future of acting and directing is in “innovative” television shows and web-series.

Evans noted that the people in the television market are given more freedom in what they want to tell their viewers. Meanwhile, filmmaking can become really “stale” after sometime which forces him to take early retirement or take some other route to test his talents.

“I think TV right now, those creative minds are given a bit more freedom. I think that is why people may be turning away [from movies], and looking to things like streaming service shows that actually are innovative,” Evans said.

Evans is all set to appear in the upcoming limited series “Defending Jacob” on Apple TV+. The eight-episode season follows Andy Barber (Evans), an assistant district attorney who investigates the murder of a 14-year-old boy. He quickly discovers his teenage son is a suspect. The show doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but he has been spotted filming in Massachusetts alongside “Downton Abbey” alum Michelle Dockery.

On the other hand, Evans is busy promoting his upcoming murder-mystery “Knives Out.” The movie had its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and is currently sitting with a 97 percent score on review site Rotten Tomatoes. The critics, who got a chance to watch the movie, have been praising the film for its amazing script and the performance of the cast.

The film also stars Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer, Toni Collette and Michael Shannon. It is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 27, 2019.
