Chris Evans celebrated his dog Dodger on National Rescue Dog Day 2022.

The "Captain America" star shared an adorable snap of himself and his rescue dog on Instagram and Twitter Friday to mark the occasion, which is held every May 20 to "bring awareness to the countless number of amazing dogs in shelters around the country who deserve a second chance at a forever home," according to the National Rescue Dog Day website.

In the photo, Evans, 40, can be seen driving a car in a green and blue plaid button-down shirt and black cap as Dodger gently rests his head on the "Avengers" star's shoulder.

"#NationalRescueDogDay," Evans captioned the snap, alongside a red heart emoji.

Evans' celebrity pals and followers gushed over the sweet picture in the comments section.

"The best pup," actress Jamie Chung commented, as Octavia Spencer added: "Awwwwwwwwwww..."

"Dodger is the cutest," one person wrote. "Rescues are the best," another commented.

"Such a sweet picture! Happy National Rescue Dog Day to you both! But who rescued who really?" another follower wrote.

Evans often posts photos and videos of his dog on his social media accounts. Back in November 2021, he shared an adorable side-by-side selfie of himself with Dodger and captioned the picture, "Twins.

The "Knives Out" actor also gave fans an intimate look at their first encounter in honor of National Rescue Dog Day last year. He took to Instagram to post a video showing him approaching Dodger's cage in the animal shelter and the pup licking the actor's hand.

"This is the moment I met Dodger," he captioned the post. "I was filming a movie in Savannah, and the scene took place at a shelter. I had no intention of rescuing a dog that day, but the minute I saw him, I knew he was coming home with me."

He added, "There are so many loving animals at shelters who are in desperate need of a home. Visit a shelter and leave with a best friend."

Evans adopted Dodger in April 2017 while filming the drama "Gifted" alongside Jenny Slate, his now-former girlfriend, and "The Handmaid's Tale" star Mckenna Grace.

During a May 2021 appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Evans revealed that the boxer mix was the reason why he decided to join Instagram.

"I feel like such an old man. I'm so late to the party," said the actor, who created an account on the social media platform in May 2020. "You know what it is? I had too many good pictures of my dog. I was like, they're being wasted in my phone. I need to put these somewhere."
