  • Chris Pratt was slammed for praising his wife for giving him a "healthy daughter" while his son Jack has suffered many health issues

  • He was able to pull himself out of his sadness by going on a run and listening to Christian music

Chris Pratt was "upset" after the internet turned on him over what was supposed to be a sweet birthday tribute to his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, on social media.

Earlier this week, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" star was slammed for praising Schwarzenegger in an Instagram post for giving him a "healthy daughter" given that his son with ex Anna Faris, Jack, has suffered serious health issues over the years.

Pratt seemingly addressed the backlash Friday in a video he posted to Instagram Story, in which he admitted that he was feeling down recently.

"I went to bed last night really kind of upset and depressed and I woke up feeling crappy and I didn’t want to work out," he said.

Pratt shared that he felt better after going on a run while simultaneously listening to Christian music.

"I knew that if I put on my Christian music playlist and I got out of the woods and ran that I’d feel better, but I just didn’t want to, and I did it anyways, and gosh, was I right. It felt amazing. I got out of the woods, got my blood pumping," he continued.

The "Avengers: Endgame" star admitted that he "got emotional" while out in the woods and "felt like there was another in the fire standing next to me." He went on to urge fans who are feeling down or struggling to listen to Christian music.

"If you feel down today, maybe get in an exercise and maybe listen to some good worship music or get the word in 'cause it really helped me this morning," he said before ending the video.

Pratt's video came days after he was slammed as "cringe and vile" by social media users and Faris' fans, who were furious over the actor's "healthy daughter" comment.

Faris said on her podcast, "Unqualified," in 2018 that their son Jack was born two months premature, weighing only 3 pounds and 12 ounces, and had to undergo "a few surgeries." She shared at the time that she was inspired by how open Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney were about their child's health.

"[My son with Chris Pratt] Jack had a few surgeries—he had a few hernia surgeries, he's had a few eye surgeries and he had a little heart issue as well," Faris shared with Kimmel and his wife, according to E! News.

The actress continued, "When Jack was born two months early, it came as a huge shock, and suddenly, your world completely shifts. The doctors and nurses that helped us and surrounded us were so unbelievably supportive that it inspired Chris and I and my parents to all get involved in this."

Both Faris and Pratt support GAPPS, an organization that aims to improve birth outcomes worldwide and reduce the burden of premature birth and stillbirths.

The former couple, who were married from 2009 to 2018, welcomed Jack in 2012.

The "Parks and Rec" alum then moved on with Schwarzenegger, whom he married in 2019. They then announced the following year that they were expecting and welcomed their first child together, Lyla, in August 2020.
