  • Chris Pratt's mother-in-law Maria Shriver encouraged him to rise above the noise after receiving backlash
  • Shriver reminded the "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor that he's a good man and a great father
  • Instagram users have mixed opinions about Shriver's comment on Pratt's  "healthy daughter" remark

Chris Pratt received his mother-in-law's support after getting flak for his sweet tribute to his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star just wanted to pay tribute to his spouse. However, Pratt raised some eyebrows after mentioning "healthy daughter" in his post because fans knew that his child with his ex-wife, Anna Faris, had serious health issues. Faris and Pratt's son, Jack, was born two months early. He only weighed 3 pounds and 12 ounces and had to undergo "a few surgeries."

While several attacked Pratt for allegedly being insensitive, his mom-in-law left uplifting and supportive messages for him in the comments section.

"I want to remind you today what a good man you are, what a great father you are to Jack and Lyla, what a great husband you are to Katherine, what a great son in law you are to me, and what a great sense of humor you have!!" she wrote Friday as quoted by People. "I love you, Chris; keep being your wonderful self. Rise above the noise. Your kids love [you]. Your family loves you, your wife loves you what a beautiful life. I'm proud of you xo."

Shriver's words of support for Pratt received mixed responses from the other netizens who read her comment. One said she was an "embarrassment to all women," adding that Shriver would not be complacent if Pratt cheated on her daughter.

Meanwhile, another supported Shriver saying she was "100 percent right." The netizen said Pratt loves his son and his post for his wife has nothing to do with Jack, but people are making issues out of it. "People are so offended over everything these days!!" the netizen wrote.

Several netizens slammed Pratt for his post, which was supposed to be an advanced birthday tribute for Schwarzenegger. The "Avengers: Endgame" star admitted that the backlash affected him in a video on his Instagram Story Friday.

"I went to bed last night really kind of upset and depressed and I woke up feeling crappy and I didn’t want to work out," he said.

Pratt said he went for a run while simultaneously listening to Christian music. He said he became emotional but felt "amazing."

"If you feel down today, maybe get in an exercise and maybe listen to some good worship music or get the word in 'cause it really helped me this morning," he said before ending the video.
