Cindy Busby fans are getting a double dose of the actress on Sunday. First with the premiere of her UPtv movie, “Christmas Cupcakes,” then with the debut of her Hallmark Movies & Mysteries flick, “A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love.”

Directed by Dylan Pearce and written by Neil Chase and Nathan Usher, “Christmas Cupcakes” has been in the works for a long time. Busby spoke with International Business Times in May 2018 about the film, which also stars Erin Karpluk (“A Fixer Upper Mystery” franchise) and centers on two sisters, played by the aforementioned actresses, as they work to save their family’s bakery.

“That [movie] was such a blast. It will be a great Christmas movie [with] a lot of sentimental scenes and a lot of nice comedy,” Busby told IBT. “It’s kind of got a baking competition aspect to it, which is really fun. Kind of like a Junior Chef sort of thing, where we’re trying to win money to save our family business. And I personally love watching those shows, where you watch these people, they’re like — they give you one ingredient, and you have to make your masterful cake in two hours using that one ingredient in the cake or the cupcake or whatever.”

The “When Calls the Heart” alum continued: “I just thought it was such a cool experience…and I can’t bake, at all, so the idea of me selling that was really something else. That was 100 percent acting. That was a baker behind the scenes doing all the hard work. She made us really look good, which I’m very grateful for.”

In the UPtv holiday film, Busby’s Gina and Karpluk’s Kim must work together to save their family’s bakery before it’s forced to close before Christmas even arrives. To do so, they enter a national baking competition to win the grand prize money. “Thrown into a world of fierce competitors and a ticking clock, it will take a Christmas miracle to save the bakery, though they may discover a prize much larger than they had hoped for,” the synopsis teases.

The movie’s cast also features Corey Loranger (Nick Sanderson), Kristian Bruun (Andrew Sanderson), Nimet Kanji (Aurora Merryweather) and Greg Lawson (Chef Paolo).

“Christmas Cupcakes” premieres on UPtv on Sunday at 7 p.m. EST.
