Near the midway point of the season, there are 11 undefeated college football teams in the Top 25 but only two from the SEC.

The defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide are off to a 6-0 start. However, Nick Saban's squad has only defeated one ranked opponent. The second half of the season poses a more difficult test for Alabama, with matchups against LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn on the schedule.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide remain the clear favorite to win another national championship. According to betting site Vegas Insider, Alabama is the frontrunner at 4/7.

Several other undefeated teams lag behind Alabama, including the Tide's toughest competition in the conference.

The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs have the fourth-best odds (15/2) to win the national championship. Georgia faces a tough challenge ahead, starting with a road game Saturday against No. 13 LSU. The Bulldogs will then face No. 14 Florida, No. 18 Kentucky and No. 21 Auburn.

Alabama is well ahead of the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes, who have the second-best odds (9/2) to win the title. Urban Meyer's squad has wins over two ranked opponents and a relatively weak schedule awaits until their season finale against Michigan on Nov. 24 in Columbus.

The No. 4 Clemson Tigers have the third-best odds at 6/1. After a bye week, the Tigers will face their first ranked opponent on Oct. 20, when they host No. 20 North Carolina State. Clemson doesn't have a ranked opponent remaining on their schedule.

Notre Dame jumped to No. 5 in the rankings after a road win over No. 24 Virginia Tech, 45-23. However, the Fighting Irish are still 10/1 longshots to win their first national championship since 1988.

No college football has performed better against top competition than Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish have wins over Michigan and Stanford this season. However, the schedule eases up for head coach Brian Kelly. Arguably the toughest test will be the season finale against USC.

Other undefeated teams include No. 6 West Virginia, No. 10 UCF, No. 19 Colorado, No. 20 NC State, No. 23 South Florida and No. 25 Cincinnati.
