‘Country At Heart’ Hallmark Channel Movie Premiere: Cast, Trailer, Synopsis

Some romance may be just what the doctor ordered this summer, and Hallmark Channel plans to deliver on that with their “A Little Romance” movie event this June—and everything kicks off June 6 with the premiere of “Country At Heart,” starring Jessy Schram and Niall Matter.

Fans are certain to recognize both leads, as they have each been staples for Hallmark projects. Schram has most recently featured in the films “The Birthday Wish,” “Royal New Year’s Eve,” “Road to Christmas” and “Amazing Winter Romance” on the network, though she could also be recognized as Cash Gray from “Nashville” and Dr. Hannah Asher on “Chicago Med” outside of the Hallmark family.

Matter, meanwhile has starred as Shane on “When Calls the Heart,” and has had roles in the films “Frozen in Love,” “Love at First Dance,” “Marrying Father Christmas” and “Christmas at Dollywood.” Fans likely recognize him most though for his role as Nick in the “Aurora Teagarden Mysteries” series of films. He has starred in five of the films, including the most recent, “Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Heist and Seek.”

So what will happen when these two Hallmark vets team up for their new project? Considering the theme of June’s new releases, obviously some romance, but it won’t be easy.

“Struggling Nashville musician Shayna (Schram) s on the verge of giving up on her career and returns to her small-town home when a chance encounter with prolific songwriter Grady (Matter) changes everything,” a synopsis for the film reads. “He’s trying writing a song for country music star Duke Sterling (Lucas Bryant) and Shayna seems like the perfect writing partner.”

Naturally, a love connection blooms as the pair work together to create a hit love song, but soon enough, a big challenge will be thrown in their path, as Duke himself meets Shayna and decides she has what it takes to be a star, forcing her to choose what matters most in her life.

“The two grow closer and romance blooms at they work on their love song, but when Shayna meets Duke, who takes a liking to her and asks her to be his opening act, it undermines everything she and Grady created and Shayna feels forced to choose between love and possible stardom,” the synopsis says.

Will Grady and Shayna’s love be enough, or will the bright lights of stardom rip them apart for good?

“Country at Heart” premieres Saturday, June 6 at 9 p.m. EDT on Hallmark Channel.
