  • Cristiano Ronaldo has set multiple records since the start of the year
  • Ronaldo has set a goal stat not even Lionel Messi was able to tie
  • Messi is struggling to score lately and could never surpass Ronaldo's said tally

Cristiano Ronaldo has a goal stat not even his nemesis Lionel Messi was able to tie.

At 35, Ronaldo hasn’t shown any signs of ageing when it comes to hitting the back of the net. Many are convinced that the Portuguese star is no doubt being motivated by the return of his favorite competition – the Champions League. However, reports claim that the success of Messi could be the real reason behind Ronaldo’s impeccable stint this year.

To put this into perspective, since Messi won his sixth Ballon d'Or back in Dec. 2, no player in the world has scored more goals than Ronaldo. His latest feat was scoring a goal for Juventus in his last 10 Serie A games. Another notable record came just a few days ago when Ronaldo became the second fastest player to reach 50 goals in Italian soccer.

The legendary forward has surpassed the original Ronaldo, also known as “Il Fenomino,” who stands at 3rd after completing the feat in 77 games. And during a match against AC Milan on Feb. 13, “CR7” scored for the 18th time in his last 14 games to rescue Juventus from defeat in the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg.

Indeed, Ronaldo continue to defy the laws of time. He has broken multiple records since the start of 2020 and is bound to break even more as the year goes by.

While Ronaldo has proven that he is way ahead of his peers given his age, another insane stat revealed that he is a freak of nature when it comes to scoring goals. According to ESPN FC, Ronaldo leads every player in their 30’s in goals scored with a tally of 261 since turning 30. (260 when the post below was created.)

The only player who came close to Ronaldo’s remarkable feat was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who scored an incredible 250 goals since he turned that age. But even Ibrahimovic can’t compare to the likes Ronaldo. Even though Ibrahimovic already got past the 500-goal barrier, Ronaldo is way past him at 700.

Unfortunately for Messi, who will be only 33 years old during the summer of 2020, he has only scored a total of 137 goals since he turned 30 years of age. Though Messi’s tally is also impressive, the Barcelona star is still far behind his long-time rival.

It is a bit too early to assume but based on how Messi has been struggling to score lately, it appears that the Argentine might never surpass nor tie Ronaldo’s incredible stat.
