In the past few weeks, United has been heavily linked to Sancho in a blockbuster move this summer. The club is reportedly hoping to tempt the 20-year-old goal scorer into joining them by offering Ronaldo’s iconic No.7 shirt, a number lastly made famous by the Portuguese star in English soccer.

Man United are said to be willing to break their transfer record just to sign him. He has been in sensational form for Borussia Dortmund this season, scoring 14 goals and providing 16 assists in 23 Bundesliga appearances.

The Red Devils were expected to be in a steady position to snap up the Borussia Dortmund winger for around £100 million ($124,500,000) when the window reopens. However, Arsenal player turned soccer pundit Paul Merson recently predicted that United will not be able to complete their Sancho transfer this summer due to financial crisis caused by coronavirus, The Sun reported.

“With the financial situation as it is, how would it look for clubs struggling to pay their staff and then transfer deadline day arrives and it flashes up on the screen that £900m or whatever has been splashed out on players? There would be uproar.” Merson said.

In his entire career, Sancho has already scored a total of 31 goals and dished out an incredible 42 assists, in 90 games. And what made Sancho’s tally a head-turner was the fact that even Ronaldo and Lionel Messi weren’t able to match his numbers when they were his age.
