KEY POINTS

  • Yacht Club Games has released a new trailer for "Cyber Shadow"
  • The new game features some of the best elements from popular games in the past
  • "Cyber Shadow" will launch in fall for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC

“Cyber Shadow” is a 2D platformer title that combines the best elements of many games from the past. This title – which is currently still being developed by Aarne “Mekaskull” Hunziker of Mechanical Head Studios and will be published by “Shovel Knight” maker Yacht Club Games (YCG) – combines many of the best elements found in popular games from the past.

The game will put players in the tabi boots of a ninja named Shadow as he goes on a “journey to uncover what started the path to perpetual ruin.” Players will have to fight hordes of robots, avoid dangerous traps, and use their skills to overcome the dangers that lurk in Mekacity.

The game, designed to feature nostalgic NES aesthetics, features 8-bit pixel art enhanced by today's modern technologies like fluid animation and multi-layered parallax backgrounds, results in a fast-paced side-scrolling game that's pleasing to play as it is pleasing to simply watch.

One of the things that interested parties can watch now is the new story trailer, Polygon reported. The trailer (below) reveals more information about the game, reveals some story details, and shows more action.

This is the second trailer since the game was announced last year. According to Hunziker, “Cyber Shadow” is designed to feature the same level principles as “Super Mario,” the enemy designs of “Contra,” the skills and action of “Ninja Gaiden” and the dark atmosphere aesthetic of “Batman.” Just one look at the trailer shows all of that to be true.

What the game is about

Yacht Club Games and Mechanical Head Studios haven't revealed much about the game yet, but some details in the two trailers, as well as videos that can be seen via YouTube, indicate that Shadow won't be slashing enemies away for nothing.

The trailers imply that Shadow will be using all the skills he learned in training to fight and defeat those who want to have control, as well as fight to restore his clan. Along the way, he will acquire certain skills that will prove useful and crucial to the success of his journey.

Shadow will have to face a variety of enemies, including ninja-like humanoids such as “Biohunter” and “Apparitor,” machines and robots such as the “Smasher,” “Laserbrain” and “Mekadragon,” and more.

“Cyber Shadow” is set to release in fall and will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It is expected to sell for $14.99.
