At least four new NFL teams make the postseason each year, and the upcoming season isn’t expected to be any different. According to the latest betting odds at New Jersey’s FanDuel Sportsbook, five teams that made the playoffs in the 2018 season are favored to miss the playoffs in the 2019 season.

The Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans are all underdogs to reach the playoffs after winning their respective divisions last year. The odds are against the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts from returning to the postseason a year after they earned wild-card berths.

Indianapolis is the least surprising team on the list, following Andrew Luck’s retirement. The Colts had been one of the favorites in the AFC to win the Super Bowl. With Jacoby Brissett becoming the team’s starting quarterback, Indianapolis will exceed expectations if they even win seven games.

Houston has since taken Indianapolis’ place as the favorite to win the AFC South, though they aren’t considered close to a sure thing with +155 odds of finishing in first place, per FanDuel. The Texans have won the division in three of the last four seasons.

The Colts have +320 odds to make the playoffs and -440 odds to miss the postseason. The Texans have +114 playoff odds with -138 odds to be done playing after Week 17.

Dallas has the best Super Bowl odds of any team on this list. The Cowboys are considered legitimate contenders with +2500 championship odds. The Philadelphia Eagles are odds-on favorites to win the NFC East, making Dallas’ road to the playoffs a potentially difficult one.

The Cowboys might be forced to start the regular season without their best player. Ezekiel Elliott continues to hold out as he seeks a new contract. With Elliott away from the team, Dallas has +110 odds to make the playoffs and -134 odds to miss the postseason.

The Seattle Seahawks lost to the Cowboys on 2019 Wild-Card Weekend. The Legion of Boom has completely disbanded, putting an even greater burden Russell Wilson’s shoulders.

Wilson has posted a winning record in every season since becoming Seattle’s starter in 2012, missing the playoffs just once. The Seahawks have -156 odds to miss this year’s playoffs and +130 odds to either win the NFC West or earn a wild-card spot.

The Baltimore Ravens are projected to go from first to third in the AFC North. The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers both have better odds to win the division.

Baltimore has +184 odds reach the 2020 NFL playoffs. The Ravens have -230 odds to miss the postseason.
