Well, that was surprising. “Dancing with the Stars” had its biggest upset of Season 19 on Monday night when a shocking elimination sent a powerful pair from the hit ABC series sashaying off the ballroom dance floor during the show’s 2014 Quarterfinals.

Week 9 began with six couples attempting to cha-cha their way to winning the iconic Mirrorball Trophy. But excitement quickly turned to dread when last week’s lowest-scoring couple, Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd were deemed as safe from being sent home. This put Alfonso Ribeiro, Lea Thompson, Bethany Mota, Sadie Roberston and Janel Parrish on the chopping block.

But ultimately it was Lea and Artem Chigvintsev who impressed viewers least with the routines chosen for them by fans in the “America’s choice”-themed episode.

Dance 1: The routine was deemed “fantastic” by judge Len Goodman as the two performed a fierce and sexy samba to Maroon 5’s “Animals,” scoring a 34 out of 40.

Dance 2: The pair’s second performance, a paso doble to Ram Jam’s “Black Betty” (which happened to feature two shirtless men), was also given high praises. “You killed it!” judge Carrie Ann Inaba exclaimed regarding the routine that received a 36 out of 40.

But even high scores and bare-chested ballroom floor additions couldn’t save Lea from meeting her fate. The actress became the eighth contestant eliminated from Season 19 of “DWTS.”

"I just feel really great. I feel strong and I'm anxious to get back to my day job on ‘Switched at Birth,’" Lea said. "I love this man [Artem] and he's a new pro and I think he did a great job with me."

Artem took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the fans who helped the pair get as far into the competition as they did.
