Season 21 of “Dancing with the Stars” is right around the corner. However, one of the contestants appears a little reluctant to slip into her dancing shoes this fall, according to reports.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, competitor Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the now-deceased Steve Irwin, dished she’s a bit fearful about performing the rumba in six-inch shoes because she’s not worn high heels before -- ever!

“[‘DWTS’] said, ‘We’re going to put you in these heels,’ and I don’t think they realized that I had never worn heels before, so I stood up and instantly fell down,” the teen animal activist revealed. “Yeah, it was a good adventure.”

Luckily for the celebrity contestant, her “DWTS” partner, Derek Hough, was there to pick her right back up.

“I have the greatest teacher on the planet Earth,“ Irwin gushed over her cha-chaing companion, a five-time winner of the competition. “I walked into this whole new adventure having no concept what I was going to do -- I had the passion in my soul, but you don’t really know what to expect. Derek was so good at putting my mind at ease, and we’ve been taking it one piece at a time.”

Hough, who will be competing in his 16th season on “DWTS,” dished that despite Irwin’s lack of heel experience, she’s been progressing in each of their practices together.

“The improvement in a week has been remarkable,” the 30-year-old dancer divulged. “Man, she’s catching on quick. It’s like she’s had this dancer dormant inside of her body and now we’re revealing it. It’s awesome!”

Hough also attributed Irwin’s success on the hit ABC series to her “positive energy.”

“I was thinking maybe it’s because she’s connected to nature and the animals or something. And if you’re that connected, you feel whole I guess,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t know what it is. I love her. She’s amazing. She’s a breath of fresh air. We all need a little Bindi in our life.”

Luckily for audiences, the croc-loving Aussie will enter our lives via the small screen when “DWTS” returns for its 21st season Monday, Sept. 14. But if that isn’t enough Irwin for you, the “DWTS” contestant is also connecting with fans of Team Crickey through social media. Saturday, the contestant posted her first Periscope video, where she discussed her “exciting” experience on “DWTS.”

“This is my absolutely very first Perisocope video,” the Australian native admitted. “This is kind of crazy for me! This is totally new. So thank you for tapping on my screen. I think that I’m going to try to do more videos because I just embarked on this new journey, it’s called ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ and it’s been phenomenal. So I thought this would be a great way to talk to you guys and share my journey with you and give you a little bit of a recap day to day.”

Fans can look forward to more Periscope postings from Irwin as well as seeing her compete on Season 21 of “Dancing With the Stars” when it premieres on ABC Monday, Sept. 14.
