The 12 “Dancing With the Stars” Season 24 couples had their first practices over the weekend and it looks like the competition is going to be stiff this season. Several pairs shared photos and video from their initial training sessions, giving fans some clues as to which stars will burn bright and which will fizzle out fast when the 2017 installment premieres.

Instagram posts from the “DWTS” duos allowed ABC viewers to tag along during practice and gauge where each team stands as of right now. Some teams showed off their fancy footwork while others spotlighted their immense strength. Some teams appeared to simply be showing off for the cameras, though only time will tell.

Here’s which teams we think have the most promise heading into Season 24 of “DWTS”:

Val Chmerkovskiy And Normani Kordei

The younger Chmerkovskiy brother may be adding another Mirror Ball trophy to his collection at the end of Season 24. Val and Normani are only getting started on “DWTS,” but it’s clear they’ve got a solid foundation to build on.

Video from their weekend practice shows that these two — dubbed Team Booty and the Beast — have chemistry and talent. Val shared several clips from their practices over the weekend. In each, Normani tackles different dance styles effortlessly.

Sasha Farber And Simone Biles

If Simone performs at all like her friend and teammate Lori Hernandez did in Season 23 of “DWTS,” she’ll go far. She and Sasha haven’t had much time together, but they appear to be a great match.

The “DWTS” pro shared a clip of he and Simone flipping into a foam pit. While it’s not an indication of how they’ll dance together, it’s given viewers hope that they’ll bring some of this technical skill to the ballroom in Season 24. Only time will tell!

Emma Slater And Rashad Jennings

Athletes are hit or miss on “DWTS.” They either play up their strength and use it to include lifts and other challenging tricks on the dance floor or they flop hard. We’re hoping Rashad is the former rather than the latter in Season 24.

He and Emma shared some fun snaps from their first practices that leave us hopeful. Rashad has been transparent with fans, though. He admitted practicing with Emma made him realize he wasn’t as good a dancer as he previously thought. Still, we’re hopeful.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy And Heather Morris

Maks is returning to the ballroom in Season 24 of “DWTS” and he’s got a great partner. While he didn’t share a video from his first practices with Heather, we think the below photo speaks volumes. The pair appear to be working on something pretty intense for their first routine and we can’t wait to see it.

Lindsay Arnold And David Ross

We may have sort of counted Lindsay and David out, but there’s no denying these two have great form!

“DWTS” Season 24 premieres Monday, March 20, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
