“Dancing With the Stars” fans were in a state of complete and utter shock after Week 6, when Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Heather Morris were eliminated from the competition. Their exit proved just how unpredictable the competition can be.

Following Team Maksimum Heat’s exit from “DWTS” Season 24, many are wondering who will be next. There are certainly teams that have underperformed in the last six weeks, but anyone could be sent packing. Fans are fearful that their favorite teams may be the next to be eliminated from “DWTS,” despite their winning potential.

Currently, Team Valmani (Val Chmerkovskiy and Normani Kordei), Team Golden Giggles (Sasha Farber and Simone Biles) and Team Shad Squad (Emma Slater and Rashad Jennings) are holding it down toward the top of the leaderboard. Not far behind in the middle and bottom sections are Team Blades of Glory (Artem Chigvintsev and Nancy Kerrigan), Team Denim N Diamonds (Sharna Burgess and Bonner Bolton), Team Baby Got Bach (Peta Murgatroyd and Nick Viall) and Team Lady and the Gramp (Lindsay Arnold and David Ross). The standings change week after week, with some teams jockeying back and forth for highest and lowest spots on the leaderboard.

Following Maks and Heather’s elimination, there’s a good chance the remaining teams are feeling the pressure. The lowest scoring teams should be the most nervous, but viewers votes play a major role in how long each team can stay around. They’re not made public, meaning “DWTS” fans will never truly know which teams are getting the most fan support, but one can only hope those calling in will make the right decisions this go around.

Several remaining “DWTS” duos, as well as the most recently eliminated team, have expressed their shock and fear following Season 24, Week 6. In an interview with Maria Menounos on her SirusXM radio show “Conversations with Maria Menounos,” Maks didn’t appear shocked by what happened. He did, however, show some serious remorse for Heather.

“It’s like a pile of stuff. Yesterday, you know how it is, you get eliminated you have to fly to ‘GMA.’ This was so shocking to Heather and I that ya know she wasn’t ready, I was, I would’ve done whatever I needed to do but because we both have kids now, and it’s kind of like OK, hold on a second let’s figure this out,” the eliminated “DWTS” pro said.

He wasn’t the only one taken aback in the wake of the elimination. Fiancee and fellow “DWTS” competitor Peta Murgatroyd couldn’t believe her future hubby and his partner had gotten the ax, especially after getting the first perfect score of Season 24. ET Online caught up with her after the show to gauge her feelings.

“I’m so upset for him. He was so excited,” she said. “He was just getting over his calf injury, and I mean, I swear they were gonna be in the finals. I mean, they’re incredible together. I just don’t understand it. But you know the show is based so heavily on fan votes, so I think that’s just it. They lacked that I guess.”
