  • Darren Till acknowledges he has a long way to go before fighting Israel Adesanya
  • Till is currently riding a two-fight losing streak after losses to Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson
  • His next fight could see him face Uriah Hall to kickstart a bid to get a title shot

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has almost cleaned out all of the top contenders in his division, and Darren Till could be next up on his list.

For Till, he is not entirely for that fight just yet as he revealed on SB Nation’s Submission Radio.

“I feel like Adesanya’s a long way off. I feel like I just got to get a few wins under my belt and prove how good I am to the people again. Obviously, as soon as I get that title fight and win, I know I can beat Adesanya. The sky’s the limit then. The possibilities are endless,” said Till.

The England-based striker is currently riding a two-fight losing streak after falling by decision to Robert Whittaker and by rear-naked choke to Derek Brunson.

Though Till has become a fixture in the UFC for about seven years now, fighting Adesanya next makes little sense from a marketing perspective as the losing streak will have a hard time convincing the fans that he has the skillset needed to end Adesanya’s otherworldly title reign.

In recent weeks, “The Gorilla” has been on the receiving end of callouts from Luke Rockhold and Uriah Hall, with the latter claiming that Till has been avoiding him to fight in the Octagon.

“Uriah says I’m scared of him… I don’t know if he says that just for social media, but that’s what he says, so if that’s what he thinks, so that’s what I’ll say is correct. You know, there’s not more to say. I’ve obviously fought most of the guys who beat him, and I beat [Kelvin] Gastelum who beat him and you know, but he thinks I’m scared of him? Makes no sense at all,” Till bluntly remarked.

Defeating a fellow knockout artist like Hall in spectacular fashion will surely catapult the No. 8-ranked middleweight to a better shot at fighting for the strap, but it could take him two or three more convincing wins to prove the point.

Adesanya and Till are surely going to deliver fireworks across the board should they ever meet, but the Englishman has a good head on his shoulders and his humility to acknowledge how far he has to go before facing “The Last Stylebender” deserves praise.
