Chad on "Days of Our Lives"
Chad was rocked by news that Abigail wants a divorce on “Days of Our Lives.” NBC

He was warned that if he pursued a specific amulet that it would potentially destroy his life because of a curse that it attached to it. However, Chad’s refusal to believe in the curse could come back to haunt him when Abigail calls him with upsetting news on the Monday, May 15 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Chad (Billy Flynn) went to Greece to acquire the amulet before Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) could, in the hopes that the antiquity would help him earn enough cash flow to keep his family company alive. However, he had also been warned before leaving the country that it was cursed, and the curse would do horrible things to whoever was in possession of the item. He refused to believe in the curse and still headed to Greece anyway. Things on the NBC soap took an unexpected turn when he was met there by both Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Andre (Thaao Penghlis), who both urged him to listen to them and end his mission. He gave them the slip and met with the man selling the amulet, and has started the process of acquiring it, while also swearing he has given up on his quest.

However, now, Chad may realize that the rumors of a curse were very true, and in fact, will affect his life in ways he never expected.

Abigail (Marci Miller) called off their vow renewal and moved out of the mansion because she believed he needed time to sort out his feelings for both her and Gabi (Camila Banus), and has openly encouraged him to try and be with the other woman he loves. Chad has refused multiple times, and tried winning her back to no avail. When he began to realize that he maybe wouldn’t succeed, he decided to get into trading antiquities on the black market because he had only stayed on the right side of the law with his business dealings for his wife. She too has learned of his quest, and now, under the power of the curse, may decide to inform Chad that she has changed her mind about only being separated from him. Now, she will tell him what she wants is a divorce.

Even worse, Abigail may already file, not giving Chad any time to try and stop her from making what he believes is a huge mistake. As he realizes his marriage has come to an official end in his wife’s mind, he may realize the curse has actually played a role in the situation, and that he should have listened when he was repeatedly warned about what it could do. While others suffered from physical ailments because of the curse, Chad is now suffering from potentially an even worse condition—a broken heart.

If he realizes that the curse is responsible for this change in his fortune, he may now change his mind about wanting it. But even if he can manage to get rid of it and somehow make sure it winds up in Deimos’ possession after all, it could be too late for him to reverse the curse, and the damage may be too permanent to become undone.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
