Abigail and Dario on "Days of Our Lives"

She agreed to marry him in order to keep him from being deported back to Mexico, where his life would be in danger, but Abigail may start to become more wary of her plans to marry Dario when he starts pressuring her to speed up her divorce from Chad on the Friday, June 16 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Abigail (Marcy Miller) made the heartbreaking decision to divorce Chad (Billy Flynn) after their separation because she genuinely feels he wants to be with Gabi (Camila Banus) on the NBC Soap. Not long after she revealed those plans, Dario told her about his own problems regarding his immigration status, since he was actually born elsewhere and wasn’t truly a citizen. When Abigail expressed regret over his being forced out, he proposed that the two of them marry as friends so he would have someone who could help him stay.

When Abigail expressed that she didn’t think it was a good idea, he then told her that if he went back to Mexico, he would likely be killed because of some trouble he got into there. Some nasty and powerful people want him dead, which is why he is desperate to not return. When she wondered if that was a lie, she had that story checked out, and learned it was true. Still, the two have yet to marry because she is not officially divorced from Chad.

Now, Dario will start pressuring Abigail to speed things up where her divorce from Chad is concerned, telling her he thinks she needs to file for the quickest divorce possible. Abigail will likely question why he is so set on the divorce being done as quickly as possible, doubting his motives as to whether or not he can just remain friends with her, or if he is really acting in order to get her to love him the way he loves her.

What Abigail doesn’t know is that any doubts she has about Dario are ones that she should be considering more strongly. While the story about what faces him in Mexico is true, there is something else that he is lying about.

Dario has another way that he can easily solve his problem when it comes to his legal ability to remain in the United States. His lawyer told him he only had to refile his citizenship paperwork, which is a simple process and would give him the legal status he needs. However, Dario actually wants to go through with the marriage plans he proposed to Abigail because he feels that if she is married to him and lives with him long enough, she will start to have genuine affection and feelings of love for him. Then, she will eventually just want to stay married to him for real, instead of just for immigration purposes.

However, he knows he can’t admit that to her, since it would end things. But he also knows that there’s a bigger chance that she could find out somehow otherwise if she doesn’t officially divorce Chad quicker. But his decision to pressure her to move things along quicker could lead to her being even more suspicious, and could delay the process even more.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
